Immigration Enforcement and Refugee Policy: A Critical Analysis

We discuss how the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement agenda is affecting international participation, including a Somali FIFA referee being denied entry to the US for the World Cup. We examine the refugee admission statistics, which show that under the reduced cap of 7,500 refugees, only 6,668 were admitted, with 6,665 being white individuals, primarily from South Africa, while only 3 were from Afghanistan. We analyze the racial disparities in refugee policy and question why supporters of these policies would accept such discriminatory practices.
